VMC wakes up on bad roads, begins repairs | Vijayawada News

Vijayawada: Much to the relief to motorists, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has started road repairs in the city. The engineering wing authorities have started patchworks on the damaged part of the Eluru road, from the Ramavarappadu ring to the Apsara center.
The condition of the city’s roads has become pathetic with heavy rains over the past two months. The roads have turned into death traps with potholes a foot deep. Part of the road between Padavalarevu Junction and SRR College was badly damaged and many minor incidents occurred there.
The VMC initially asked the R&B department to repair the damaged roads as they are responsible for repairing the main roads. But there was no response from the R&B authorities.
Meanwhile, the public expressed their anger at the poor condition of the roads. TOI had pointed out the other day the bad state of the roads of Eluru and KT in town.
However, the VMC authorities eventually took action and started the road rehabilitation works using the general fund. “We waited for R&B to fix the roads. But the condition of the road to Eluru is bad and motorists are going through a difficult time. We waited for the rains to stop and now our engineering authorities are completely focused on repairing the road. We will make sure every road is fixed soon, ”VMC commissioner Prasanna Venkatesh told YOU.
Regarding the poor condition of the Moghalrajpuram road, Prasanna Venkatesh said the high voltage underground cable works have been completed and they will start the black roof works next week.
