Street Construction News – Town of Sioux Falls

41st Street and I-29 Interchange Reconstruction

Effective Monday, April 4, 2022, the eastbound lanes of West 41st Street will be closed between I-29 and Marion Road to allow crews to work on rebuilding West 41st Street and the I-29 Interchange. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained in the westbound lanes. In addition, the outermost right-turn lane farthest from I-29, westbound on West 41st Street, will remain closed.

South Meadow Avenue will reopen to traffic by the end of the day on April 4, 2022, between West 39th Street and West 41st Street.

The overall project includes the construction of a diverging diamond interchange on I-29, the widening of West 41st Street to three lanes in each direction between South Marion Road and I-29, underground utility improvements, a new concrete pavement and a central median on West 41st Street. .

Drivers are advised to exercise caution and reduce speed when traveling near the construction zone and may consider alternate routes.

Street Closures – Tallgrass Avenue

Effective Monday, April 4, 2022, Tallgrass Avenue will be closed between West 74th Street and West 85th Street to allow construction crews to install a new water main and sanitary sewer. Motorists should use South Louise Avenue, West 69th Street and West 85th Street as alternate routes.

Weather permitting, this work should be completed by mid-June 2022.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution and reduce speed when traveling near the construction zone and may consider alternate routes.

Street closure – Willow Avenue

Effective Monday, April 4, 2022, Willow Avenue between West Seventh Street and 450 feet north will be closed to traffic to allow construction crews to install a sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water main, curb and gutter and asphalt paving.

During construction, there will be no detour route. This work should be completed by the end of June 2022.

Marion Road Storm Drainage Repairs

Work on South Marion Road, which was originally scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, has been rescheduled to begin on Monday, April 4, 2022.

Effective Monday, April 4, 2022, the southbound lanes of South Marion Road will be closed at the West Silver Valley Drive intersection to allow construction crews to carry out repairs to streets and storm drainage. Single-lane southbound traffic will be maintained in the center turn lane. Northbound traffic will not be affected.

As part of this work, West Silver Valley Drive will also be closed to all through vehicles on South Marion Road.

This work should be completed in about two weeks, weather permitting.

Construction of Veterans Park and Terrace Park Pumphouse 215

Beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, sanitary sewer work will resume in Veterans Park and Terrace Park for repairs to the sanitary sewer system. The east entrance to Veterans Park will be closed. Traffic will be directed to the west entrance of Veterans Park. Portions of sidewalks are closed to pedestrian traffic.

Work is expected to be completed by June 2022.

The park will remain open to the public with restrictions during construction. Park users are advised to exercise caution near the construction area and to stay out of the work area.

Tomar Park Improvements

From Monday morning April 4, 2022, construction will begin at Tomar Park. Beck and Hofer Construction will begin improvement works to expand and improve the tennis complex. The work should be completed by the end of August 2022.

The park will remain open to the public with restrictions during construction. Park users are advised to exercise caution near the construction area and to stay out of the work area.
