Notre Dame RB Logan Diggs Undergoes Surgery To Repair Torn Labrum

Notre Dame sophomore runner Logan Digg left the Blue-Gold Game in the second half after trying to stiffen his arm, and we learned the injury was worse than initially thought. Notre Dame announced that Diggs tore his left shoulder labrum and underwent surgery to repair it.

The operation was performed by the Notre Dame team doctor, Dr. Brian Ratigan. Notre Dame has indicated how long Diggs will be out, but this type of injury normally takes 4-6 months to heal, which could prevent Diggs from attending fall camp. It should be noted that Notre Dame did not specify how long Diggs would be out.

Diggs should be one of the best Fighting Irish players this season. He rushed for 230 yards and scored four touchdowns despite not playing a snap until Game 6 of the season.

With Diggs out, Irish will rely on juniors Chris Tyreesecond year classmate Audric Esteem and freshman national Jadarian Prize. Notre Dame will also welcome another talented freshman – Gi’Bran Payne – this summer. Payne originally signed with Indiana but will enroll at Notre Dame this summer after opting out of his national letter of intent with the Hoosiers.
