Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will close its runway on October 18 for repairs and maintenance.

A press release from Mumbai International Airport said the runway – 14/32 and 9/27 – will be closed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 18.

As part of its post-monsoon preventative maintenance of the runway intersection, major works such as runway edge lights for runway 14/32, upgrade of AGLs (aeronautical ground lights), among others tasks will be undertaken during this maintenance work. “With over 800 flights landing and departing each day, this annual post-monsoon runway maintenance practice is one of a series of activities undertaken with precision and meticulous effort ensuring operational continuity and passenger safety, thus bringing life to the vision of imbuing passenger first approach at the heart of our operations,” the statement read.

The CSMIA, in cooperation with airline customers and other key stakeholders, has effectively rescheduled the flights to ensure the smooth running of the maintenance, the statement added.
